Prestigious Award for UNLOC Investigator

UNLOC associate co-investigator Prof Andrew Ellis (Aston) has received the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award.

Prof Andrew EllisThis has been awarded in recognition of Prof Ellis’ considerable contribution to optical communications research, and will enable him to develop collaborations and further the impact of his research.
 
Prof Ellis said: "The demands on communication systems have increased significantly, with people wanting to send more and more information over greater and greater distances, causing the huge growth of internet traffic. Receiving this award will now present the opportunity to raise awareness of these issues and adopt strategies for the future growth of broadband, teleworking and social networking that will be of benefit to all working in the field."
